The Kaiser-Rocket effect: three decades and counting

Abstract The peculiar motion of the observer, if not accurately accounted for, is bound to induce a well-defined clustering signal in distribution galaxies. This related Kaiser rocket effect. Here we examine amplitude and form this effect, both analytically numerically, discuss possible implications for analysis interpretation forthcoming cosmological surveys. For an idealistic cosmic variance dominated full-sky survey with Gaussian selection function peaked at z ? 1.5 it > 5? effect can principle bias very significantly inference parameters, especially primordial non-Gaussianity. surveys, realistic masks functions, significant concern parameter except perhaps non-Gaussianity studies. However, systematic whose origin, nature imprint on galaxy maps are well known thus should be subtracted or mitigated. We present several approaches do so.
